After a difficult 2009 show (20 % of attendance drop compared to 2008), the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2010 opened its doors in Las Vegas (7-10 january) for a week dedicated to the technological innovation…

And this year was placed under the sign of the 3D, a digital revolution for some, marketing swindle for the others; and we were able to discover a wide range of products of this new generation: 3D HD Television set HD, 3D Blue Ray Reader (going along with the 3D Blue Ray disks), 3D Glasses, and even rumours of a broadcasting of the next football World Cup into 3D (Sony, ESPN)!

But this year will also be the internet slate year, with the anouncement of not less than 8 constructors, including Microsoft (in partnership with HP) with Courier, Dell with Streak Slate, Sony with Dash.

Apple should announce as for him soon the marketing of its internet tablet. Baptized ‘ iSlate ‘, Orange would have already announced its distribution, while the officialization should be made at the end of January, during the Apple ‘CES’, KeyNote.

Among other innovations revealed this year, we were able to discover the first USB 3.0 kit, the introduction of the 3M pico video-projector, images of the NATAL XBOX game, which will work without levers (thanks to the movements recognition); but also the demonstration of the Parrot AR drone, a quadricopter pilotable via its iPhone:

If this 2010 edition attracted more visitors than last year (120000 against 110000 in 2009), we will note the omnipresence of the 3D throughout the week. If we cannot deny that the technological headway presented in the CES allows to glimpse a television revolution, we are entitled to wonder if the constructors just have, again, found their new cash machine…

As we are currently at the end of the year, it seems obvious to analyze what happened.

2009 was the year of  (social, not mandatory to give more precisions) media and instant messaging through Twitter.

MJ Death. Besides the event himself (that I don”t take care), I wonder myself: wasn’t it the best ad for Twitter to grow its community, was it?

Susan Boyle, the perfect example of a bubble. Will we remember of Susan Boyle in 1,2, 10 years?  Not so sure about this. How such amazing buzz could happen?

In 2010, we expect a revolution specifically in mobile technologies: 3.0 Bluetooth, NFC, augmented reality, and finally m-business.

And, in order to tackle this coming year, we will follow carefully CES Las Vegas 2010.
